10th Street in Long Beach runs for miles through diverse neighborhoods, taking on new identities along the way, through residential, commercial, and mixed-use areas. HERE worked with the City to form a vision for the street, which was centered around improving it for the neighborhood’s residents.

After two rounds of workshops and technical advisory inputs, HERE drafted the Visioning Plan which recommended a suite of improvements, as well as a series of Pilot Strategies that could be implemented for an earmarked $60,000 that the City had identified. The Pilot Strategies included a experimental “bus-let” or temporary bulbed-out bus stop, temporary curb extensions, artful crosswalks, and a community painting project for the telephone poles that ran along the north side of the street.
