Santa Monica COAST Pop-Up

The City of Santa Monica hosted its first open streets event, “Coast,” in 2016, which spanned 1.7 miles along Ocean Avenue, Main Street, and Colorado Avenue, and celebrated the opening of the Metro Expo Line. As part of this event, HERE designed, fabricated, and set up a “Culture Happens Here” pop-up community story board and mapping pop-up installation.

Over 160 people shared their personal cultural experiences and stories and a few hundred others stopped by to read the stories, hang out in the parklet that we set up, and take photos with the artful installation.
