We are working on two projects in the Central Coast. In the City of Oxnard, Here LA is working on a Sustainable Transportation Plan, which aims to create a more sustainable, integrated, and safe transportation environment. Here LA will develop complete streets, green streets, and first/last mile-related streetscape elements and designs. Green infrastructure and stormwater management elements will be central to our designs. We are also going to develop art-based workshops and demonstrations that help communicate planning topics and gather feedback.

In Santa Barbara County, we are working on an Active Transportation Plan that will improve safety, reduce vehicle miles traveled, and expand the bicycle, micro-mobility, and pedestrian networks. To kick the project off, HLA is designing creative events and campaigns to raise awareness about the project and to gather feedback from some of the underserved communities in the unincorporated areas of the County. First up, “The Postcard Pop Up”, consists of an artful travelling mailbox that prompts residents to give feedback on the active transportation environment in their communities. Look out for the Postcard Pop Up in Santa Maria, Santa Ynez, & South County communities from August - September 2021. Phase 1 community conversations will include an Augmented Reality self-guided tour that people can follow on their mobile devices.
