Pilot Projects in Long Beach

In February, Here LA designers fabricated and installed a pilot fence art installation and bulb-out design for the Uptown Planning, Land Use and Neighborhood Strategy (UPLAN) in North Long Beach. The fence art installation runs along the eastern edge of the Romana Park tennis courts, and aims to educate passersby about the goals of the plan and its proposals for the future. The bulb-out design was painted around a newly installed crosswalk that leads to Ramona Park; increasing visibility and safety for those accessing the park from the surrounding neighborhood.

The design (shown above) includes a layering of bright blue colors and linework that was inspired by the energy and diversity of the Uptown Long Beach neighborhood.
