Shatto Place Quick Build

Location: Koreatown, City of Los Angeles, CA

The HERE team helped to conceptualize and then design this super fun street improvement pilot project in Koreatown, adjacent to the Young Oak Kim Academy.  Simple crossing and safety improvements were originally planned as part of the City of LA's Safe Routes to School Program, which the HERE team proposed to transform into a wide extended Kids Space area next to the school.  We worked with students and administration at the school to design the Kids Space, with a custom street mural on the ground plane, plants in planters, and ideas for school programming for the space. Student artists will help us install the mural when the school year starts up.
